FLORIDA – Terrible mass shootings rocked a high school in Florida, United States (US) Wednesday local time or Thursday (15/2/2018) WIB. At least 17 people were killed after a former student fired a shot.
Florida police say suspect Nicolas Cruz, 19, entered Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland today and fired on the students.
This attack will be one of the deadliest shooting tragedies in US history.
Broward Sheriff Broward, Scott Israel, said 12 people were killed inside the school, two people were killed outside the building and one person was shot dead in the street. Two other victims were killed after being taken to the hospital.
“I am sad to say that 17 people lost their lives,” Scott Israel said from Twitter @browardsheriff.
The exact number of people who have been shot has not been released by the police. But Florida police say the shooter was shooting at the school with the aim of killing many people.
The shooting made the students scared and ran into the streets. SWAT team members surrounded the high school building.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the suspect was now in custody.
Speaking from the scene, the Israeli Sheriff described today as a major disaster.
“This is a fluid scene and we have several SWAT teams cleaning the building to make sure there are no other shooters,” he said.
Sheriff has not revealed the motive of this mass shooting. “I do not know why he left, I do not know when he went (to school),” Israel said.
He said the police are currently dissecting a suspect social media account has found some disturbing material.
The police officer also said that the gunman had obtained AR-15 magazine and assault rifle. Actors in action with AR-15 assault rifle.
According to the weapons control group Everytown for Gun Safety, this is the 18th shooting at US schools this year.
