This is a recreation of an animal made from a skeleton discovered in a sandstone rock. It was about 18 inches tall and existed about 75 million years ago somewhere around Mongolia. It appears to be a mix of a duck, crocodile, ostrich and a dinosaur. Dennis Voeten, a paleontologist named it Halszkaraptor escuilliei after a late Polish paleontologist. They presume that the animal developed these different traits to survive, these characteristics would help it run and hunt on land and fish in water.
Doubts surfaced as to the authenticity of the creature due to its bazaar nature. Researchers created a 3 dimensional image of the fossil and verified the creature was a single animal and not random pieces of different skeletons fused together.
